Non-fasting morning and afternoon midstream urine sample, submitted by the 38 Filipino subjects who consented, were subjected to a routine urinalysis. There was no significant difference in the physical and chemical examination between the morning and afternoon urine specimen and using a two tailed, paired z test (p-alpha = 0.05) it was found out that there was also no significant difference in the microscopic finding between the morning and afternoon urine except in the number of RBC counted per hpf. Therefore it can be said that a non-fasting afternoon midstream urine sample is as reliable as non-fasting morning midstream urine sample in the macroscopic chemical and microscopic examination except in the microscopic examination in RBC ER -
