The rates of hospitalization for CAP are high and it is speculated that noncompliance with national and international guidelines for CAP management constitues one of the factors explaining such high rates. Evidence-based guidelines have been developed by scientific societies to assist physicians in the management of CAP and to reduce variability in clinical care. The main purpose of the guidelines is to improve the care of patients with pneumonia. Studies show that implementation of the guidelines is accompanied by an increase in the percentage of processes of care and a lower inpatient hospital morbidity and mortality rate. This study aims to investigate the adherence to 2010 Philippine Clinical Practice guidelines for CAP, the use of severity scoring tools and the appropriateness of antimicrobial prescription ER -
