Due to developing global public health threat, in 2011 the World Health Organization (WHO) has urged all the governments internationally to take urgent action to address antimicrobial resistance (AMR). The Antimicrobial Stewardship Program (ASP) of DOH aims to promote rational and optimal antimicrobial therapy, to strengthen the knowledge, attitude, and practices on rational prescribing, dispensing, and use of antimicrobials, and to conduct research to analyze the progress and challenges on implementing the ASP in the Philippines.
