Self-care activities of patients are directly related with their glycemic control and its assessment might improve the outcomes of the patient. Self-are activities may include the following: glucose management, dietary control, physical activity and health-care use. This is a cross-sectional observational study. A total of 92 patient were given DSMQ after giving their informed consent. Sample selection was done with consecutive sampling. Independent Sample T-test was used to determine the difference between patients with good and poor glycemic control in terms of their DSMQ result and its subscales. Pearson product moment correlation was used to determine the linear correlation of DSMQ score and categories to Hba1c. DSMQ score and its subscale are not significantly correlated with HbA1c, furthermore DSMQ scores in both good and poor glycemic control showed no significant difference with each other. The investigator cannot fully commit on using the DSMQ for daily clinical practice. The DSMQ is structurally made addressing each domain, including glucose management, dietary control physical activity and health care use, hence answering the questionnaire will give the physician an overview of the problem regarding poor glycemic control of the patient.
