The researchers utilized an experimental research design to test the efficacy of the fruit in treatingintestinal parasites. Durian is an abundantfruit in the Philippines, and studies proclaim that it has potential medicinal and therapeutic properties, particularly as a treatment for intestinal parasites. However, there is insufficient evidence regarding this claim. Because of this, the current inquiry seeks to fill this research gap. The researchers experimented by extracting Vitamin A from Durian flesh and tested it on Ascaris subjects. The researchers acquired their Ascaris samples from Novaliches Slaughterhouse and submerged them in Goodwin's solution to keep them alive. High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) was used for the extraction process. The researchers performed two trials in which different concentrations of Durian extract were administered to Treatment Groups A and B, along with a control group. These were kept in an incubator and observed until the subjects were dead. The results showed that the exposure of Ascaris to the Durian extract led to the helminths having a slower motility, decrease in weight, change in color, and postmortem cuticular separation. The data was analyzed using a t-test, but the reliability of the statistical results were low because of the small sample size that was utilized. Therefore, the findings and conclusions of the study are based on the visible results of the experiment. The researchers concluded that the data gathered from the experiment provide compelling reasons to reject the study's null hypothesis.
