ABSTRACT: Decreased vision can considerably impact daily life as it affects one`s independence. Emotionally, it can cause loss of control, anger or depression. Glaucoma affects a person`s life, job, activities, and to some degree, one`s relationships with family and friends. The inability to enjoy things such as watching television, reading or writing can be saddening. If one have been diagnosed with glaucoma, know that there are resources to help one cope and serve as aid in regaining one`s independence with vision rehabilitation, strategies and adaptive devices. This paper aims to enlighten the readers to know the impact of having problems with vision in a young adult`s life - her independence and relationship with family and other people as well as to revisit the role of primary care physicians in the prompt diagnosis and management of a debilitating disease such as glaucoma among young adults.
