Physicians have been focused on assessment of perioperative risks identifying the now well defined cardiac risk factors. However, clinically significant postoperative pulmonary complications are as common as postoperative cardiac complications. This study aims to validate and determine the usefulness of a Preoperative Risk Index for Predicting Postoperative Respiratory Failure by Arozullah, et al in 132 Veterans Affairs Medical Centers after major surgery in FEU-NRMF from june to November 2008. The use and applicability of such index scoring can help point out potentially treatable or correctable factors therapy preventing the risk of postoperative respiratory failure as well as significant morbidity and mortality among patients who will undergo surgery ER -
