PREPARATIONS MADE BY STAFF NURSES OF THE FAR EASTERN UNIVERSITY - DR. NICANOR REYES MEDICAL FOUNDATION MEDICAL CENTER BEFORE THEY PASSED THEIR LOCAL NURSING LICENSURE EXAMINATION - QUEZON CITY FEU-NRMF MARCH 2007 - 68 PAGES

ABSTRACT: The licensing examination is one of the last hurdles that a candidate must face in the licensing process. A board has the ultimate responsibility to ensure that the examination meets technical, professional, and legal standards, and, protects, safety and welfare of the public by assessing candidates` abilities to practice competently. Once a candidate has passed a licensing examination, the board must be comfortable granting the licensure, thus assuring the public that the licensee is minimally qualified to practice at the time of initial licensure. Most students feel like they have a good understanding of the test material before the test but then "freeze up" in the testing situation. The students feel as if they are in control but actually are not. In a testing situation, the four selves, the emotional, physical, and academic, and spiritual must work together. If any one of the selves is not in control, it could have an impact on the other selves causing the testing situation to be unfavorable.
