PHYSICAL HEALTH PROMOTION ACTIVITIES OF THE SELECTED NURSING STUDENTS IN FAR EASTERN UNIVERSITY - DR. NICANOR REYES MEDICAL FOUNDATION

ABSTRACT: The study assesses the physical health activities that are done by the nursing students of Far Eastern University - Dr. Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation. It identifies how the nursing students manage to promote healthy well-being in congruence with the academic demands and subjects requirements. The data were gathered through the use of questionnaires that were constructed by the researchers and were validated to the research advisers. Results show that the most effective physical activities perceived by the nursing students are jogging, brisk walking, and exercise. It was found out that the physical benefits of the activities done are effective in maintaining the body image with a weighted mean of 4.03. As for the psychological benefit, the nursing students find doing the activities fun and enjoyable with a weighted mean of 3..85. It was also seen that the social benefit of engaging in health promotion activities is that it is effective in helping to gain new friends with a weighted mean of 3.79. Of all the interpersonal factors that influences the student nurses to engage themselves in health promoting activities, it was found out that the family contributes more with a weighted mean of 3.67. However, the problem perceived by the student nurses on why they do not engage in health promotion activities is because it conflicts with their schedule with a weighted mean of 3.58.
