AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF THE EFFECTIVITY OF DE LORME`S PROGRESSIVE RESISTANCE EXERCISE ALONE VS DE LORME`S PROGRESSIVE RESISTANCE EXERCISE WITH PASSIVE STRETCHING IN INCREASING THE STRENGTH OF TRICEPS BRACHII AMONG PT INTERNS IN FEU-NRMF PT-REHAB SY 2006-2007 - Quezon City FEU-NRMF 2007 - 35 pages

ABSTRACT: This study was entitled a comparative study on the effectivity of DeLorme`s Progressive Resistance Exercises with passive stretching versus De Lorme`s PRE`s alone in increasing the strength of Triceps Brachii among PT interns 2006-2007. The main objective of this study was to determine if there`s was increase in strength of triceps brachii considering essential factors such as repetition Maximum (RM) and the size of the muscle bulk. In addition this study also determines if there was a decrease in fat deposition after De Lorme`s PRE`s with stretching and De Lorme`s PRE`s alone. These subjects selected in this study were untrained male and female individuals of FEU-NRMF PT interns SY 2006-2007 for the month of August-September & October-November, with age that rangers from 20-25 y/o. Participants will be evaluated considering their lifestyle, health condition and participation in any exercuise program. The muscle grade of triceps brachii must be grade 4-5/5. Subjects will be divided into two groups, group A and Group B, composing of random number of males and females. Group A performed De Lorme PRE`s c 30 SH of stretching with 5 repetition of passive stretching on triceps brachii while Group B did do De Lormes PRE`s alone. This will be done 3x a week for 6 consecutive weeks. Repetition Maximum was monitored every exercise and results of muscle bulk and fat caliper measurement were evaluated on the 2nd, 4th, and 6th week of program. Results regarding RM, size of the muscle bulk and difference in fat deposition before and after the exercise were tabulated. The relevant measurement that had been gathered was analyzed using paired T-test for comparison of De Lorme`s PRE`s with passive stretching from de Lorme`s PRE`s alone. Independent T-test was used for analyzing results. The duration of treatment is consecutive weeks.
