"KAALAMAN SA KALUSUGAN KAYAMANAN NG MAMAMAYAN" A PROGRAM TO IMPROVE THE LEVEL OF AWARENESS ON SELECTED NUTRITIONAL ISSUES AMONG MOTHERS OF BARANGAY HOLY SPIRIT DATED FEBRUARY 2003 - QUEZON CITY FEU-NRMF 2003 - NO PAGE NO.

ABSTRACT: "Kaalaman sa Kalusugan, Kayamanan ng Mamamayan" or KKK ng Mamamayan is an action program conducted among mothers in Areas 3A and 3B of Barangay Holy Spirit, Quezon City, February 2003, to promote awareness on certain nutritional concepts, specifically malnutrition, Basic Filipino Food Pyramid and Breastfeeding. The project started with a survey to determine the level of awareness on the three parameters. The data were interpreted and it showed low results. The researchers identified two (2) factors for the low level of awareness. These are low levels of knowledge and attitude. As an answer to these problems, the researchers initiated a "mother`s class" wherein various instructional teaching methods (ITM) were applied to enlighten the mothers on the three topics mentioned. A pre-test and a post-test were done to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention. Results showed a generally increased level of awareness. Using the T-test for each parameter, the level of knowledge had a significant differene at 95% confidence interval with a standard error of 4.2%. However, attitude did not have a significant difference at this level of confidence interval with a value of 9%.
