Using the same validated questionnaire, the group EI of the 116 medical students was re-evaluated and classified as "low", "average" or "high". Data were analyzed using the Mann-Whitney U-Test for sample sizes larger than 20. A p value less than 0.05 was considered significant. Results showed a slight increase in the number of students with low El, which showed to be statistically significant (P=0.000). The participants were given a checklist of different intrapersonal and interpersonal factors from which they were asked to choose those that may possibly increase, decrease, or have no effect in the Emotional Intelligence of Medical students.
