Intelligence quotient (IQ) is not more the only measure of success; emotional and social intelligence also plays a big role in a person`s success. The purpose of this study is to see whether a relationship between the Emotional quotient and academic performance of students is studying Medical Laboratory Science in Far Eastern University - Dr. Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation. Two data were gathered; one from among the 2nd year to 4th year Medical Laboratory Science students and the other one is each student`s general weighted average (GWA) that will be coming from the School of Medical Technology. We, the researchers used the Bar-On-Emotional Quotient Inventory (EQ-i) which is the first scientifically developed and validated measure of Emotional Quotient. The Bar-On-EQ-i is downloaded for free in the internet and composed of 59 items and takes approximately 15 minutes to complete. We calculated the mean of all the grades each of the 608 students to see weather there is a relationship between or none, in order for us to accept or reject our hypothesis and to make a generalized conclusion about the subject matter. At the end of the study, we found out that there's a weak correlation between the students Emotional Quotient and their General Weighted Average and Student's EQ fall on good average. ER -
