ASSESSMENT OF DISASTER PREPAREDNESS IN FEU-NRMF - QUEZON CITY FEU-NRMF FEBRUARY 2014 - 60 PAGES

ABSTRACT: Disaster Preparedness is an integral part of any community especially with the fact that Philippines is vulnerable to a multitude of natural and man-made calamities. This research finds out the preparedness of the FEU-NRMF institution in cases of fire, flood, and earthquakes. It determines the functionality of the presently employed disaster preparedness plan. Assessment of disaster preparedness was done through a checklist and questionnaire method. A copy of FEU-NRMF's disaster preparedness plan was reviewed and checked against the components of the 2008 Hyogo Framework by the United Nations. To gauge the knowledge of the FEU-NRMF community on the appropriate response in cases of fire, and earthquake, a questionnaire given to a number of students and employees from the whole FEU-NRMF community which was determined through stratified random sampling. The questionnaire's contents encompass of the contents of standard disaster preparedness plan of the institution. The evaluation was done through the utilization of the Disaster Preparedness index prepared by the Department of the Interior and Local Government.
