ABSTRACT: This study aims to determine the leading diagnosis of the patients who consulted at the Pay Treatment Room (PTR) in the months of June and July, 2011. A descriptive study was employed to do so. Data was gathered from PTR census. A total of 252 charts reviewed and used in the study. The top five leading diagnosis were 1) acute upper respiratory tract infection with 9.12%, 2) community acquired pneumonia with 8.73%, 3) fractures, soft tissue swelling and costochondritis with 6.75%, 4) wounds (laceration, avulsed, and/or infected) with 6.75%, and 5) conjunctivitis with 5.56%. Of these five, community acquired pneumonia was chosen for the study and action program. The said diagnosis was determined by age, gender, and place of residence. The study also determined where the majority of the patients from the PTR resided. The top five areas are as follows: 1) commonwealth, 18.29%, 2) Novaliches, 3) 17.47%, San Jose Del Monte, 13.91%, 4) Camarin, 8.36, and 5) Barangay Holy Spirit 7. 16%. In Barangay Commonwealth, the leading diagnosis was community acquired pneumonia with 21.74%. Acute upper respiratory tract infection was only 4.35%. Therefore, the study suggests that in the community with the highest number of consultation in the PTR, its leading diagnosis was community acquired pneumonia.
