However, when automated cell counts are not working or in cases of very low blood cell counts manual erythrocyte counting must be performed. The erythrocyte count plays a vital role in medical diagnosis and pathological study. The most commonly used solution for diluting red blood cells is Hayem's solution but in this study the researchers used the cucumber juice as an RBC diluting fluid. The primary goal of the proposed research is to evaluated the RBC count, the erythrocyte morphology and the degree of Rouleaux present using cucumber juice and Hayem's solutions as RBC diluting fluid. Through the data collected and analyzed, cucumber juice was able to dilute rbc and produce similar results to Hayem's solution. ER -
