520 | _aABSTRACT: To determine the utility of sonographic gastric wall thickness in the diagnosis of gastritis/gastric ulcer. This is a restrospective study by medical charts review that will determine the utility of sonographic gastric wall thickness for the diagnosis of gastritic/gastric ulcer. Comparison between the ultrasound findings of the gastric mucosa was compared to the endoscopic findings. The researchers opted to use the lowest possible predictor of mucosal thickening (4 mm), which is based from the outcomes of the different studies. Those patients with a mucosal thickness of more than (4) mm on ultrasound indicated gastric pathology, whereas the presence of erosions and cobblestone pattern of the gastric mucosa on endoscopy indicated gastritis/gastric ulcer. This limited study consisted of 200 patients (132 females and 68 males, ages 20-80 years old), who all underwent ultrasound and endoscopy at FEU-NRMF. | ||
