520 | _aAbstract: Clerical errors are one of the most common errors being committed in the laboratory wherein there are very vital when it comes to the accuracy and reliability rate of diagnosis and treatment. With this, the study sought to assess the perception of Medical Technologies working in FEU-NRMF Medical Laboratory regarding the usual clerical errors they have committed in the span of COVID-19 pandemic. Data were obtained via online forms wherein Google Forms were distributed only to 20 Medical Technologist assigned in the FEU-NRMF Hospital. Data were interpreted by using descriptive statistical analysis such as mean, frequency and percentage. Results show that the majority of the respondents were females, aging below 28 years old, and practicing their profession for less than 7 years. Also, the majority of those who committed these errors practice their profession for less than 7 years. in addition, the most often clerical errors and factors that the respondents encountered in the three laboratory phases were mislabeling of specimens, out of turnaround time release of results, failure to run proficiency testing was well as incorrect timing of the test. According to the respondents, the most perceived cause of committing these errors were being overworked and having toxic duty hours. The respondents believed that the COVID-19 pandemic increased the rate of committing clerical errors. Lastly, clerical error were proven to affect the accuracy and reliability rate of laboratory results (mean=4.30). With this, the study will be helpful to address and lessen clerical errors being committed in FEU-NRMF Medical Laboratory. | ||
