This research used a quantitative method where it tackled the impact of listening to music on the mental health of Senior High School students. This research gave a better understanding on the benefits of certain music genres on the mental health of the respondents. The findings of this research are extremely beneficial to students, professors, parents, and future researchers. In this study, the researchers first distributed pre-survey to FEU-NRMF Senior High School students to determine the top 3 most listened music genres and then after determining the top 3 music genres, the researchers then distributed the main survey to 67 of the FEU-NRMF Senior High School Students to obtain the perceptions of these respondents on using the top 3 most listened music genres. Then, the data obtained was analyzed using score weighted mean methods and it was determined that Pop music is the most beneficial followed by K-Pop music as the second most beneficial and the least beneficial is Hip-hop/Rap Music. According to the section on mental health, most students feel happy, lively, relaxed, and remember happy moments in the past. Based on the findings summarized, the researchers have drawn the following conclusions: 1.) Emotions and memories were significant in pop music in the sense the they primarily enhance positive mood level of happiness, evoke pleasant memories from the past, and pop music increases both productivity and concentration level of students. 2.) Listening to K-pop music provides students with an uplifting effect that can turn the negative mind to develop positive thoughts while providing comfort and healing and it helps improve the ability to focus and be productive. 3.) Hip-hop music distracts students from negative emotions and helps them manage and deal with mental health issues better and it also helps improve the ability to focus and be productive. | ||
