520 _aAbstract: The primary objective of this study is to determine the incidence of stroke admissions in FEU-NRMF Hospital from January 2013 - December 2014. A total of 400 medical charts of patients diagnosed with cerebrovascular disease who were admitted at FEU-NRMF Medical Hospital from January 2013 - December 2014 were reviewed from the Medical Records section after obtaining permission from their department head. Out of 400 medical charts of patients reviewed, 339 charts were further reviewed for achieving inclusion criteria. Sixty one (61) patient charts were excluded from the study based on the exclusion criteria. The researchers reviewed the charts of the patients that were admitted to FEU-NRMF to identify incidence of stroke admissions from January 2013 - December 2014. The charts of those patients who were admitted for the first time in FEU-NRMF Medical Center were reviewed to also identify possible factors that led to the diagnosis of CVD, factors associated with hospital admission like length of hospital stay, age, sex, occupation, and co-morbid factors of patients. As of the year 2013 - 2014 there has been a significant increase of admitted CVD diagnosed patients in FEU-NRMF Medical Hospital. A total of 143 patients were admitted during the year 2013. Meanwhile, in the year 2014, there has been an increase of admitted CVD patients with total of 196 recorded tally. A significant number of 53 patients was increased in year of 2014 from the year of 2013. In addition, an average of 57 years old were being admitted to the hospital for having CVD or stroke and an average of 10 days length of stay in the hospital was calculated. 53% out of the total population admitted whose age were more than 60 years old and 62% of the total were of ischemic type of stroke. Predominantly, unemployed individuals were more likely to be admitted in the hospital of CVD or stroke with percentage of 78% of the total population, and males were likely to be admitted than females with a total of 56%. Most of the total patients have hypertension that comprises 77% of the population. However, patients without DM (Diabetes Mellitus) were likely to be admitted in the hospital for having a total 71% of the population. Most of the patients stayed in the hospital for approximately 10 days for some reason. Over the span of 2 years, male, unemployed patients whose age were more than 60 years are more susceptible to having admitted in FEU-NRMF Medical Hospital for having CVD or stroke. To the author's knowledge, this is the first study to report the incidence of stroke admissions in FEU-NRMF Hospital from January 2013 - December 2014. Rending all data gathered, majority of patients included in this study are male accounting for 56% or 191 out of 339 while 44% are female 148 of the total population with ages 61 years old and above that composes of 179 out of 339 (53%) patients, 141 out of 339 (41%) composes of patients that have an age of 40 - 60 years, while 21 - 40 years old composes of 19 out of 339 (6%). The length of their hospital stay ranges from 0 to 20 days for 303 patients which accounts to 0\5 or 303 of the total population. Seven percent or 24 patients stayed in confinement for 21 to 40 days while 2% or 7 patients for 41 to 60 days. Three patients (1%) stayed confined for more than 100 days (patients with health insurances). Majority of patients admitted were unemployed accounting for seventy eight percent or 266 patients out of the total population while 22% or 73 patients are employed (regardless of employee or businessman) prior to the time of admission in FEU-NRMF Hospital following stroke. The following results show that there is an increase prevalence of Ischemic stroke recorded in patients aged 61 years old and above favoring male patients. Based on this study, there has been a significant increase of admitted patients diagnosed with CVD in FEU-NRMF Medical Hospital from January 2013 - December 2014.
