520 | _aAbstract: Precocious puberty is the premature development of body characteristics that normally occur during puberty. In girls, it happens when there is development of the breast, armpit or pubic hair, mature external genitalia and there is occurrence of the first menstruation before 8 years of age. The frequency of precocious puberty is about 4-5% and associated causes include genetics, increased body fat, structural abnormalities in the brain and hormone secreting tumors. Presented is a case of an 8 year old, female Filipino who had vaginal bleeding at the age of 7 and was worked up for precocious puberty. | ||
