520 _aABSTRACT: DOMS is widely recognized and yet, controversial injury phenomenon in terms of the origin & cause of the injury and treatment. This is an experimental study on the effects of post-resistive exercise application of cold packs, hot packs, and contrast bath in preventing delayed-onset muscle soreness of biceps brachii among FEU-NRMF freshmen female student. The hypothesis of this study is if there is no significant difference on the effect of cold packs, hot packs and contrast bath on biceps brahii in terms of duration of DOMS, intensity of pain (peak) subjectively taken and presence or absence of DOMS. Its significance is to know the effect of cold packs, hot packs and contrast bath on preventing DOMS on bicep brahii. The objectives is to determine the effects of post-resistive exercise application of hot packs, cold packs, & contrast bath in preventing DOMS of bicep brachii. The group used an experimental type of study. In collecting data the researchers performed screening by asking them to answer a questionnaire through our informed consent to exclude those who are mentioned in the exclusion criteria. After screening, the subjects will be equally divided into three groups as to; hot packs, & contrast bath groups. The members from each group were more or less homogenous in a number of characteristics, such as age, level of activity, and lifestyle. The examiner patiently waited for the possible subjects to have a free time for them to perform the activity. Since they have different groups, they also have different schedules. The subjects are asked to performed biceps curl with dumbbells that was chosen by the examiner to get their RM (repetition maximum). After getting their RM, the examiners asked the subjects to do Platon Curl Exercises: The Hot Pack`s groups were given HMP for 20 minutes right after the activity. Also with the cold pack`s group, that was also given cold packs after performing the activity for 15 minutes. While the contrast bath group, was first given HMP for 4 minutes then 1 minute cold packs x 4 sets to complete 20 minutes. After the procedure, each subject was provided with a checklist wherein they filled it with a check mark, up on the first time they experienced the pain. Double check when they felt severe pain (peak) and cross mark when the pain disappeared. The results using F-test (One-way ANOVA in terms of duration of DOMS, there is significant difference on the effect of different PT applications. There is also significant difference on the effect in terms of intensity of pain. Using the chi-square, there is significant differences on the effect of PT application on presence or absence of DOMS. The conclusion in interpreting the findings of the study, the researchers were therefore be able to conclude that in terms of the effect of different PT application on the duration of DOMS, there is significant difference which means that it can lessen the duration of DOMS. In terms of where the differences are, the difference lies on the difference cold packs versus hot packs and contrast bath versus hot packs, which means that cold packs and contrast bath can lessen the duration of DOMS while hot packs can not significantly lessen the duration of DOMS. There is also significant different on the effect of different PT application on the intensity of pain (peak) which means that it can lessen the intensity of the pain. In terms of where the differences are, the difference lies on the cold packs versus hot packs which mean that cod packs can lessen the intensity pain caused by DOMS. There is also significant different on the effect of different PT applications on the presence or absence of DOMS which means that it can lessen the presence of DOMS. But significant high number of participants who underwent hot packs were suffered DOMS.
