520			_aAbstract: This research involves the study of the relationship of the academic performance of the FEU-NRMF medical students (non-independent variable) and it`s probable association with alcohol intake students (independent variables). The five (5) variables that could be related the effects of alcohol intake on the performance of the medical students are the type, amount, frequency, duration and reason for the alcohol intake. The data was generated from the questionnaire of 616 medical students in FEU-NRMF Institute of Medicine from first year to third year. July to August 1991. In the analysis of the data, the Z test was utilized. Cross-tabulations of the academic performance, and the type, amount, frequency and duration of alcohol intake for both male and female according to year level were done. Bar diagrams were also used to illustrate the results. Our findings include the following: 1. The amount, duration, type and frequency of alcohol intake can significantly affect the academic performance of the medical students in a non-beneficial manner. 2. Concerning the reasons of alcohol intake, it was found that the academic stresses in medicine could trigger one to drink but not to ignore other factors or reasons that may influence drinking These findings should alert us because such an increase in the number of those consuming alcohol poses a relevant effect in which if not taken appropriately may produce a future untoward effect on the academic performance of these students.
