Abstract: This study aims to identify the risk factors associated with multi-drug resistant pathogens among patients with ventilation - associated pneumonia admitted at FEU-NRMF medical center. Specifically, the clinical characteristics of patients with hospital acquired pneumonia with multi drug resistant pathogens were identified. The multi-drug resistant pathogens were likewise searched for From these data, an antibiogram susceptibility pattern of the most common multidrug resistant isolate will be determined. This is a Prospective observational cohort study. All adult patients admitted at either ICU of Pay/Charity Wards exhibiting clinically and bacteriologically documented VAP will be included in the study. The patients chart is reviewed and the data collected includes the patients baseline characteristics. The diagnosis of VAP is based on the 2005 American Thoracic Society Guidelines. Endotracheal tube aspirate will be collected, and sputum culture will be done. The potential factors for the development of VAP will then be subdivided into patient - related procedure - related and pharmacologic - related factors. The patients will be monitored until the day of discharge.
