The study also obtained information regarding the previous academic grades of the students last semester in English, as well as the type of school they graduated from, whether private or public so as to correlate the scores with their academic standing. The researchers used simple random sampling which resulted to having more female respondents as well as those from private schools. In the end, the study showed that more female respondents achieved a higher mark against the selected male population. Also, a larger percentage of public school graduates attained better marks. In the end, still almost half of the population was able to pass.
