The study assesses the parental influence among the nursing students of the Far Eastern University - Dr. Nicanor reyes Medical Foundation. It identifies the factors that affect how parents influence their children`s studies evaluate the degree of influence these factors possess as perceived by the parents and students. Furthermore, it determines what parenting style is predominantly being practiced by the parent and child in their homes. This study is centered on the point of view of both the parent and student respondents. Data are gathered from the subjected students and their parents through the use of survey instrument that was prepared by the researchers and was tested for its face validity and reliability. Results of the study show that parents and students have different perception in some of the parental influencing factors. In Education, Problems encountered in education and deccision - making factors, the parent respondents influence more on academic works, scholastic progress and emotional decision - making respectively while the student respondents see their parents more influential in terms of extra-curricular activities, academic concerns and personal decision - making respectively. The only factor in which they agree with is about the students study habits in terms of passing their exams. Majority of the respondents employs participative parenting style.
