Abstract: We conducted a comparative analysis on the Immunogenecity of hepatitis B vaccines: DNA recoblnant vaccine and Plasma-derived vaccine administered at different doses of 5ug, 10ug, and 20ug. The first year medical students underwent screening for both anti-HBs Ag using reverse passive home agglutination kit and passive heme agglutination kit respectively. All those with negative results (n=83) were randomly assigned to one type of vaccine with a corresponding single dose given at interval periods of 0, 1, 2 months. Then, determination of three months post vaccination antibody titer was done using the ELISA test. Three types of statistical tools: z-t-test, t-test, and one way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) were used to analyzed the results of the post vaccination antibody titer. The statistical analysis yielded a results which state that there was no significant differences between the two type of vaccine except for the seroconversion of the two vaccine at a dose of 20ug. A three years post vaccination antibody titer of 17 fourth year medical students were determined using the ELISA test. The results were compared to their first post vaccination antibody titer taken last 1995. Some have a rise in their antibody titer but most of them have a decline in their antibody titer.
