ABSTRACT: Syzygium cumini (Linn.) extracts (150, 300, 450 and 600 gms/300 mL) and oxacillin were tested for the anti-microbial activity against the Staphylococcus aureus. This was done using the modified agar diffusion method. Zones of inhibition were indicated by a clear ring or halo around the punched hole. The extracts proved to be less effective than oxacillin against the Staphylococcus aureus. Zone enlargement is directly proportional to increasing concentration.
