ABSTRACT: The study aimed to determine the relationship of Body Mass Index (BMI) and Waist-to-hip Ratio (WHR) of Senior High School Students at Far Eastern University - Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation to their level of awareness on obesity. This study used a descriptive-correlational method of research to determine the relationship between the BMI and Waist-To-Hip ratio of the respondents as a basis for measuring obesity to selected students from 18 to 20 years old. This study collected anthropometric measurements such as weight, height, hip line and waistline of the respondents which were needed in the calculation of their BMI and WHR. Thus, their BMI and WHR were correlated to their level of awareness on the indicators, causes, and risks of obesity. Out of 106 respondents have the weight of 46 kg - 56 kg; height of 146 cm - 162 cm; waistline of <35.5 inches for males and <31.5 inches for females; and hip line of <41.5 inches for males and <42.5 inches for females. Most of the BMI of the respondents are in Normal category (60.4%) and have low risks of being obese based on their WHR (42.5%). It was also found out that the respondents in general are aware on the causes and risks of obesity but somewhat aware on the indicators of obesity. However, there is no significant relationship on the BMI and waist-to-hip ratio of the respondents to their level of awareness on obesity. For the improvement on their level of awareness on the indicators, causes and risks of obesity, a poster and leaflet were constructed to increase the awareness on these variables.
