ABSTRACT:
This study delves into the occurrence and characteristics of acute kidney injury (AKI) in COVID-19 patients admitted to the FEU-NRMF Medical Center in 2021. It entails a comprehensive analysis of patient demographics, comorbidities, creatinine levels,
duration of hospitalization, and mortality rates. The investigation revealed that AKI predominantly affected individuals aged over 60 years, with an almost equal distribution between males and females. Pre-existing conditions such as hypertension and diabetes mellitus were prevalent among these patients. Those with AKI experienced prolonged hospital stays and faced an elevated risk of additional complications, including a higher likelihood of mortality. Notably, the mortality rate among COVID-19 patients with AKI was substantial, reaching 29.6%. These findings underscore the significant impact of AKI in the context of COVID-19, emphasizing the critical importance of early detection and effective management of kidney complications in this specific patient population.
