"OPLAN : SAMA-SAMA SA PAG-IWAS AT PAGKILALA NG NIYUMONYA" (CAR I PROGRAM FOR THE MOTHERS OF MILLAR)
"OPLAN : SAMA-SAMA SA PAG-IWAS AT PAGKILALA NG NIYUMONYA" (CAR I PROGRAM FOR THE MOTHERS OF MILLAR)

ABSTRACT: "OPLAN : Sama-sama sa Pag-iwas at Pagkilala ng Niyumonya," Is an action-Program in line with DOH Program Goals and Objectives for 1999 to 2004, which is to reduce pneumonia deaths among children 1-4 years old from 83.4-100,000 (1993) to 40/100.,000 2004. When the group conducted a pre-test regarding prevention and early recognition of pneumonia, it revealed a great deal of misconception about the disease. Although the mortality for pneumonia in millar is compatible with the National Census, our group decide to push through because of the following reasons : the community has a high dependency ratio, people live below the poverty line, they have generally low educational attainment, the population is predominantly young, they have high unemployment rate and a high prevelance of Malnutrition. The community`s misconception about pneumonia is brought about by poor information dissemination, insufficient goverment effort, and lack of venue for delivery of health care programs. As an answer to these problem. The group facilitated the construction of a lecture hall which will be use as a venue for delivery of various health care program of FEU-DCFM Clerks. This was then followed by distribution of brochures regarding prevention and early recognition of pneumonia and a seminar on the same. Post-test results revealed a significant increase in awareness, prevention and assessment of pneumonia.
