ABSTRACT: This is a project which determined the nutritional status of 50 FEU-NRMF Non-Medical Personnel based on their Obesity Profile. The Body Mass Index, Waist and Hip Circumference and Waist Hip Ratio of the participants were measured. The results of their BMI were interpreted to them. IEC materials were given to promote the importance of healthy diet and exercise in keeping and maintaining within normal body weight. The Non-medical personnel were classified based on their BMI as to: Underweight, Normal, Overweight, Obese 1, and Obese II. The participants of the project were also classified as to their degree of risk based on their BMI and Waist circumference. Significant Waist circumference and waist hip ratio were also noted. The non-medical personnel who were classified with moderate to high risk based on the Functional classification were invited for an educational small group discussion. The project documents that most of the population was considered Normal in terms of their BMI alone, and only needs to prevent long-term weight gain to maintain their health. Moreover, majority of the population belong to the Low and Moderate risk group, in terms of their BMI and Waist Circumference. These individuals need to take serious lifestyle modifications, to promote weight loss and to prevent long term weight gain.
