COMMON PROBLEMS, INTERVENTION, AND PREVENTIVE MEASURES RELATED TO PARENTAL FLUID THERAPY AMONG ADULT PATIENTS AT FEU-NRMF MEDICAL CENTER

Our General objective is to determine the effectiveness of common interventions to problems related to parenteral fluid therapy among adult patients at FEU-NRMF medical Center. The researchers utilized descriptive-evaluative survey method. The subjects of the study included residents who have rendered interventions to adult patients with problems related to parental fluid therapy, Selection of the sample population was done on a probability sampling specifically stratified random sampling. Sample size was 50. The study was conducted at FEU-NRMF Medical Center, Fairview, Q.C. It covered the different departments of the institution. Close ended questionnaires were use as an instrumental tool. The collected data was analyzed through statistical tool. Phlebitis, Extravasation and infiltration, and fluid overload were the first, second, and third common problems identified. Our conclusion is that the problems identified may cause serious complications to adult health condition but they are all preventable if proper intervention will be rendered. Still, there is high incidence of occurence of each problem because of the contributory factors. Residents may have rendered interventions but is not in good quality. Improving the skills and knowledge of residents are still a necessity.
