Abstract: Sampaguita, also known as Jasminum sambac, (Js.) has analgesic, antiflammatory, antiseptic, properties; but the main focus of this study will be on its antimicrobial and antifungal effects only (Abdoul-Latif et al., 2010) A study showed that the essential oil and methanol extract of Js. that were tested against Candida albicans (Ca.) and Aspergillus species were compared with the drugs benomyl and griseofulvin. The essential oil and method extract inhibited microbial growth. (Abdoul-Latif et al., 2010) The study aims to provide understanding of the antifungal capabilities of J. sambac which can help gain innovation knowledge that will serve as a basis and reference for conducting further studies of the topic and lead to a new antifungal agent. The extract of Jasminum sambac may be used as an antifungal agent but it should be a higher until optimal levels are reached and tested against different species of fungi.
