Summary, etc. ABSTRACT: Death is an inevitable thing that will happen to everyone. It is the reality we have to face. Dying from a terminal illness is the one of the most feared forms of death. The pain felt by the patient, the agony of the relatives seeing their love ones "slowly dying", the cost of hospitalization, with all the machines hooked to the patient in his last hour - all encompass dying from a terminal illness. It is in this light that the concept of Hospice Care was conceived. It aims to palliate pain, assist the patient's relatives in dealing with the situation, give a "quality" life to a terminally ill patient as well as to give the patient a "dignified" death. However, only few institutions know and practice this. The aim of this research is to introduce Hospice Care/Palliative Care to FEU-NRMF MC. The Philippine Cancer Society, assisted by third year section D Action Group, conducted a two (2) day training program for the Department of Community and Family Medicine, in preparation of setting up a Hospice Care program for the hospital. However, this is just the beginning of a series of training programs. There should be a continuous training for the staff and members of the department. Hopefully, in one to two years time, FEU-NRMF MC, would have its own Hospice Care, for better caring and providing a meaningful life to their patients.
