Summary, etc. Abstract: Helminthiasis, an infection of an organism with parasitic worm is considered as a major constraint in livestock productivity around the globe, particularly in topical areas such as the Philippines. Musa paradisiacal L. Known a banana is widely used for its nutritional values. It is used by the traditional healers to treat different diseases. Parts of the banana such as stem, root, leaf and flower have known to be useful. On the contrary, the peelings of the banana are thrown immediately after eating the fruit. So, in this study, the researchers want to investigate the significance of the peelings of banana in resolving such problem. It is designed to evaluate its anthelmintic activity with the specific objectives of determining the effectiveness of the banana peeling ethanolic extract against Ascaris suum. The researchers used an experimental method to evaluate the anthelmintic activity of banana peelings. To achieve the objective, researchers conducted an extraction of the Musa parasidiaca peels using ethanol as solvent. The obtained extract was subjected to Phytochemical testing to identify the constituents present. The study found out the apparent anthelmintic properties in the banana peels extract. The anthelmintic effects of banana extracts were dependent more on its amount as applied to the Ascaris suum. In conclusion, the ethanolic extract of Musa paradisiaca peel has anthelmintic activity which can be use against gastrointestinal nematodes of pigs - Ascaris suum. However, pharmaceutically approved drug fenbendazole showed greater anthelmintic activity than the ethanolic extract.
