Summary, etc. ABSTRACT: The purpose of this study is to determine the contributing factors affecting the decrease in the number of private patients being brought in by surgeons to the FEU-NRMF Medical Center - Outpatient Department (OPD) / Minor Surgery Unit (MSU). The threefold objective is to describe the demography of the surgeons, to determine their level of satisfaction, and to determine the association between socio-demographic characteristics of the surgeons and their level of satisfaction. On analysis, the findings showed that the typical demographic profile of a surgeon operating in the FEU-NRMF OPD-MSU is a Married Male in the 3rd and 4th decade of life, who lives within an hour of the hospital and has been working in the hospital for more than 5 years. The surgeons in general were moderately satisfied with the typical scenario in the FEU-NRMF OPD-MSU. They were most satisfied with the performance of the staff and personnel and least impressed with the rates and charges. The socio-demographic factors such as age, sex, marital status, department, year of service and distance from hospital did not significantly contribute to the surgeons' level of satisfaction to the variables discussed. However, certain indicators for each variable may be influenced socio-demographic factors.
