Summary, etc. Abstract: Social media use of late adolescents has spiked during the COVID-19 pandemic, which may imply changes occurring in social media use and well-being. The study aims to describe which issues and changes were faced specifically: (1) the occurrence in the usage of social media during pandemic, (2) the current state of late adolescents' self-esteem, (3) the influence of social media on the Self-Esteem of late adolescents, (4) the perception of adolescents regarding the influence of social media in self-esteem, and (5) the social media influence on the late adolescents' self-esteem during pandemic situation. The study utilized qualitative (interview via purposive sampling)and quantitative (descriptive statistics via survey questionnaire) approaches. Results show that social media is mainly used for obtaining information, passing time, and social interaction during the pandemic. As the pandemic hit, there was a surge of use of social media by late adolescents. Findings also showed that adolescents see both positive and negative influence of social media during the pandemic. However, there are also some students who see that social media do not affect their self-esteem differs to every individual due to different aspects and reasons reflected. Both findings reflect preceding studies on social media's influence to self-esteem, most of which only investigated the correlation of the two variables. This study gives new insights as to why and how there is a positive, negative and insignificant influence of social media use to self-esteem. Findings from this study will help late adolescents to navigate social media while understanding themselves better. Parents, peers, medical professionals and future researchers can utilize this study to better help and cater to specific needs of late adolescents.
