Summary, etc. Abstract: The Current K-12 curriculum which involves different academic strands was designed to prepare students for college. Although the strands were designed to bring students nearer to their choice of course in college, some strands such as the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) strands have a wider scope and was designed for students who are interested in the fields of Mathematics and Sciences. Some universities have designed strands which focus more on the field of science and medicine, like the health-allied specialized strands, but only a handful of universities offer the said strand. To address the problem of having a limited number of universities that offer the health-allied specialized strand, the researchers conducted a descriptive-comparative study which aimed to explore the said strands and its advantages in terms of social and academic adjustments of college students by comparing the students' level of adjustments from both the STEM and health-allied specialized strand. To further support the study, a correlation test was conducted to determine the relation between the level of adjustment and the General Weighted Average (GWA). The respondents of the study were 1st-year to 3rd-year nursing students from different schools in Metro Manila who graduated from either the STEM or the health-allied specialized strands. Findings show that the level of adjustment from both strands have no significant difference. Furthermore, the General Weighted Average (GWA) and level of adjustment of the respondents from both strands show no significant correlation. With this result, the researchers concluded that the social and academic adjustment of Nursing students who graduated from a health-allied specialized strand are more or less the same with STEM strand graduates. In addition, the level of adjustment of the respondents showed no significant association with their academic performance.
