Abstract: The Filipino's perception towards the Covid-19 vaccination gave rise to the phenomenon of vaccine hesitancy. The factors such as age, educational attainment and household income contributed to their perception of safety and efficacy. This study is conducted to determine in the Filipino adults' perception were affected by these factors. It's intended to establish knowledge and understanding that affect the Filipino adults' decision on vaccination. This is an analytical cross-sectional study using a chi-square test in assessing the Filipino adults perception. A total of 720 Filipino adults participated in the study, consisting of 18 years old to 70 years old. Majority of the participants, 74.4% (n=288 perceive the COVID 19 vaccine as safe and 72.5% (n=280) percieve it as effective while 3.7% (n=15) do not perceive the COVID 19 vaccine as safe and effective. The rest, 21.9% (n=84) and 23.6% (n=94) are unsure of COVID 19 vaccine safety and effectiveness, respectively. Regarding the factors associated with COVID 19 vaccine perception, as to the age, majority were young adults aged 18-25 years old which contributed to 37.3% (n=147) followed by aged 26-40 years old which is 23.5% (n=91), 41-56 years old which is 23.0% (n=86) and 57-70 years old which is 6.2% (n=63). As to sex, 227 595 (n=227) are females and 41% (n=160) are males. As to educational attainment, majority are college graduate which is 55.4% (n=216), some are college undergraduate which is 16.4% (n=64), high-school graduate which is 16.2% (n=62), more than college which is 5.7% (n=22), some has vocational attainment which is 3.1% (n=12) and elementary graduates which is 2.9% (n=11). As to their household monthly income, the majority, 29% (n=111) falls under less than ₱11,690 while 24.8% (n=98) has a monthly income of ₱23,381 to 46,760. The 20.6% (n=79) falls under ₱11,690 to ₱23,380; 11.2% (n=42) has a monthly income range of ₱46,761 to ₱81,832. For the 8.4% (n=33) they have an income of ₱81,833 to ₱140,284 monthly and 6.0% (n=24) have a monthly income of more than ₱140,284. The results of this study showed that there is a significant relationship between age and educational attainment of the participants to their perception in COVID-19 vaccine safety and efficacy. Most of the participants that perceived the COVID-19 vaccine as safe effective are young adults who are 18-25 years old and college graduates. Other factors such as sex and monthly household income are not significant which means that the factors did not affect the perception of the participants on COVID-19vaccine safety and efficacy. |
