Abstract: Paper-based results are becoming less favorable due to some disadvantages. As laboratory information system advances, electronic health records (EHRs) have considered the factors that paper-based results lack. However, despite it being currently in use, there is limited information concerning EHR implementation in the Philippines. Hence, this descriptive study was employed to determine and evaluate physicians' viewpoints in FEU-NRMF Medical Center regarding the utilization of EHRs, aiming to address the insufficient information presented about that matter. The study obtained a sample of 32 physicians from FEU-NRMF Medical Center who experienced the utility of EHR. Data collection was conducted using survey questionnaires that consists of a 57-item, 5-point ordinal Likert=type scale with one (1) dichotomous question distributed via Google forms. The analysis was carried out using percentages and weighted means to interpret each data effectively. Generally, the findings indicate that the overall experienced of physicians from FEU-NRMF Medical Center who are utilizing EHR had undergone satisfaction in respect to permanence, traceability, security, confidentiality, speed, convenience, confidentiality and reliability in their clinical practice. The researchers concluded that most respondents strongly agreed on the advantages that EHRs have provided to them. However, pitfalls are still present to some users since familiarization is required in utilizing EHR. Other factors (e.g., age) also contribute to the pitfalls towards the said system. As EHRs are advised to enhance the quality and quantity of healthcare by making healthcare data accessible and available at the point of need, presented obstacles should be highlighted as these might prevent the system from being successfully deployed. The limitations are discussed to provide remarks during study, including setting, size of its sample, and access and respondents' respondents' willingness to participate. The researcher also provided recommendations to the hospital administration, other health centers, further studies and future researchers/investigators. |
