Abstract: Today, use of dietary and herbal supplements have been increasing as more people demand for its nutritional effects. According to CRN (2019), 77 percent of the U.S. Adults take dietary supplements. Moreover, Statista Research Department (2020) found out that 68 percent of the Filipino participants who are taking dietary supplements consumed it more often after the COVID-19 outbreak. This research aims to find out if the knowledge and attitude of college undergraduates correlates in the usage of dietary/herbal supplements in FEU-NRMF. Particularly, it determines the knowledge and attitude of college students and the prevalence of the usage of dietary/herbal supplements. Dietary supplements is a non-drug that contains additional ingredients (vitamins, minerals, and other substances) that gives additional nutritional value, while herbal supplements is a non-drug that contains herbal parts. To determine the correlational of knowledge and attitude of college students in thew usage of supplements, an online survey was conducted among college students of FEU-NRMF. Stratified simple random sampling was used to determine the participants of the study. The responses were analyzed through the use of percentage, test of promotions, average weighted mean, spearman rho correlation and regression. The results showed that knowledge and attitude of college students are correlated and there is an association between those two on the usage dietary and herbal supplements. These results suggested that knowledge have an effect on attitude. Moreover, both knowledge and attitude of college students affects the usage of supplements. Based on these results, educational programs, seminars, and further researchers must be conducted with regards to the usage of these supplements. |
