Summary, etc. Abstract: Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is one of the most common traumatic injuries encountered in the emergency room which is also one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality of every individual worldwide regardless of age. This study aims to determine the causes, types, severity of TBI also its timing, date and place of occurrence. This is a retrospective cross-sectional study that looked into the clinical outcomes of FEU-NRMF admitted patients who sustained head injury from 2010-2020 using a chart review study. Systematic sampling was used for sampling method and sample size calculation. Data is analyzed using frequency, percentage and ninety five percent (95%) confidence interval. A total 288 patients were included in this study with mean average age of 34.1 years. The proportion of injury was observed among male patients having 55.2% and 44.8% females. The highest cause of the traumatic brain injury is fall with 57.6% followed by motor vehicular accident with 36.5%. Closed head injury (39.9%) is the mostly encountered type of head injury in the form of concussion syndrome (29.55). Intracranial hemorrhage (32.7%) is the second most common type TBI encountered in the form of subdural hemorrhage (14.6%). These injuries are most likely happened on the last quarter of the calendar year gets most of the head trauma (28.8%). From first to the third quarter, the average frequency of head injury is (23.6%). Most of these injuries occurred during nighttime (6pm to 5:59am) with (54.5%) and majority are within proximity of FEU NRMF Medical Center primarily in Quezon City (70%). Most of these admitted TBI patients are suffered from in a mild form with 85% which are medically and conservatively managed. Most the local studies for traumatic injuries or accidents generally involve injuries from different anatomical parts of the body such as injuries to the head, neck, torso, abdomen, extremities. This is the first time that this study focus only on the head injury. The author was able to determine the data on the severity, causes, types, timing, place of occurrence of traumatic brain injury (TBI) in a single institution. This will guide the medical allied personnel, rescuers, and local authorities to set injury surveillance; and ensure the medical experts early recognition and proper judgment in the management of TBI in order to limit these traumatic head injuries from fatal complications.
