Summary, etc. ABSTRACT:
One of the keys to effective studying is finding a good location. It is difficult to study in a room full of distractions. However, the ideal location for one person may not be the ideal study location for someone else. One may not like studying somewhere private, or even very quiet, but everyone wants to make sure that you study at a location that is conducive to one’s method of learning, allows one to concentrate, and is free of distractions. The researchers want to come up with the brilliant recommendation on an idyllic study venue as the main reason in conducting this research which is advantageous not only to the nursing students, but also for other people who will show curiosity regarding this research. The researchers show that there are several factors known in the Study Venue which can affect effective learning outcomes. The effectiveness of study venue in the learning of the Nursing Students will be based on the overall performance measured through their General Weighted Average. Sixty-seven (67) respondents were included in the study. Cross-sectional analysis observational study that analyze data gathered from a population was used as the research design. The sampling method used in the research was non-probability sampling. Surveys were conducted to each year level at their respective classrooms. The regular students were separated from the irregular students. The researchers asked the regular students to include their student number for their identification. Results were analyzed with ANOVA and T-test. The most common used study venue is home with a percentage of seventy-seven point six (77.6 %). The second most common used study venue is classroom with a percentage of thirty-seven point three (37.3%). Sixty-five point six percent (65.6%) prefer to be studying in a purely quiet environment. Meanwhile, Sixty-one percent (61 %) among all nursing students prefers an environment without colorful decorations while studying. Sixty-seven percent (67%) of the total students prefer to eat while studying. The percentage of students that prefer studying while consuming beverage is seventy-six percent (76%). Majority of students prefer to study at night with a percentage of fifty-three (53%). Eighty-eight percent (88%) prefer studying alone. About 64% uses internet while studying. Students prefer using gadgets with a percentage of 57%. Majority of the respondent chose home as their most preferred study venue because it is a place
where everyone is familiar with. It is also a place of convenience because all your needs including food, beverage and etc. are within reach. Familiarity of the study venue is also one of the factors why students prefer home as their most preferred study venue. Classroom ranks as the second most preferred study venue because it is the place where tests and exams are usually conducted. Most of the nursing students prefer to study in a quiet and minimally decorated environment because it helps in having a calm mind and helps in concentration while studying. Noise and having colorful decorations can be perceived as
distractions. Eating while studying is mostly preferred by nursing students because it is known that sugar or glucose is the energy needed especially when doing activities that require the brain to work. Most students prefer to study at night because retention of memory is mostly active when a person is sleepy. Another factor is that many students believe that the night before an examination is a good time to assure retention of information. Most nursing students prefer to study alone. Studying alone helps the student to focus and also helps the student to be independent. Today, the researchers can assume that everybody uses gadgets with access to the internet. The internet serves as one of the main reference when it comes to studying. The use of advanced technology for studying is a big edge for it may offer a complete compilation of information needed by the student to perfonn well at school. The researchers recommend finding the best possible study venue. This research will serve as a reference for the future researchers undergoing research with the same subject. More research must be conducted regarding this subject so that the effectiveness of studying at home will be tested and confirmed. Future researchers must conduct a survey with more respondents and factors so that a better conclusion will be derived.
