Summary, etc. ABSTRACT:
This study centralizes on determining the association of the perceived sense of belongingness (SOB) and experienced cancel culture of the SHS of the Far Eastern University- Dr. Nicanor Reyes Medical Foundation. The principal objective of the research is to discern solutions to the complexities surrounding the concept of the relationship of cancel culture and
belongingness through the provision of a proficient response to its questions. In order to answer the study’s queries, a mixed methods classification of research which involves bot qualitative and quantitative aspects was employed, wherein the researchers specifically used a correlational study and phenomenological form of research for the said aspects. Particularly,
an explanatory sequential design was adapted as the study’s primary research design due to the concentration of the study to a subject that has not been thoroughly explored before.
Moreover, it was discerned that students that were identified as cancelers (the perpetrators) and canceled individuals (the victims) both have a high level of SOB in digital platforms but
in physical environments, a high level of SOB was solely observed on the perpetrators. It was also determined that there was no significant correlation between the cancelers’ belongingness
and experienced cancel culture in both of the stated settings. Conversely, a significant relationship between the two stated variables among canceled individuals were only identified
in offline environments. The study ascertains that the relationship of these variables can be adequately observed among canceled individuals in physical platforms as their experience
with other internal factors can contribute to the stability of their belongingness.
Keywords: Cancel Culture, Sense of Belongingness, Online and Physical Platforms, Social Exclusion, Social Rejection
