Summary, etc. Abstract: Magnetic resonance imaging of the knee is frequently used in the diagnosis of Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) and meniscal injuries. Arthrosocpy has remained the gold standard in the diagnosis of the internal derangement of the knee against which other modalities are compared. The aim of this study is to determine the reliability and value of a 1.5 t MRI imaging of the knee for the detection of Anterior Cruciate and meniscal tear in comparison with the intraoperative findings in our local population. A total of 46 patients with pre-operative MRI done underwent Arthroscopy in our institution. MRI findings were compared with Arthroscopic findings. Sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV) and negative predictive value (NPV) were then calculated. The sensitivity of MRI for ACL, medial and lateral tears id 83%, 83% and 62% respectively. The positive predictive value was 90%, 83% and 81% respectively.
