Summary, etc. Abstract: A case of an 18 year old female with severe generalized headache, nape pain and vomiting, with no history of trauma nor loss of consciousness is presented. Essential hypertension was confirmed after secondary causes of hypertension were excluded. Formerly considered an adult disease, high blood pressure (hypertension) is being diagnosed in more and more children. An estimated five percent of children in the United States have high blood pressure, a condition in which the heart and blood vessels are being overworked. Considerable advances have been made in the detection, evaluation, and management of hypertension in children and adolescents.Because of the development of a large national database on normative blood pressure levels throughout childhood, the ability to identify children who have abnormally elevated blood pressure has improved. On the basis of developing evidence, it is now apparent that primary hypertension is detectable in the young and occurs commonly. The long-term health risks for hypertensive children and adolescent can be substantial. Therefore, it is important that clinical ,measures be taken to reduce these risks and optimize health outcomes
