Abstract: To determine if there is a difference in the attitudes and practices of ORL-HNS specialist from those of the subspecialist To validate a questionnaire on the attitudes and practices of ORL-HN Surgeons on second opinion referral consultation. To describe the attitudes and practices of ORL-HN Surgeons on Second Opinion Referral System. To determine if there is a difference in the attitudes and practices of ORL-HNS specialist from those of the subspecialist. A 32-item questionnaire was constructed, validated and used to determine the second opinion referral attitudes and practices among ORL-HN surgeons. More than half of the respondents have both negative attitudes towards second opinion referrals (57%) and low practices scores(54%). There was no statistically significant difference between the attitudes and practices of ORL-HNS specialist from those of the subspecialists except for the gender in the attitudinal domain. Respondents scored low in both attitudes and practices towards second opinion referral consultation. There was no significant difference in the attitudes and practices of ORL-HNS specialist and subspecialist on second opinion referral consultation except for gender in the attitudinal domain. |
