Summary, etc. In this study, two Gram-positive bacteria, Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pyogenes were applied on the incision made on the upper and lower extremities of Mus musculus to produce superficial skin infection. These were later on treated with farlic using two different extract types: crude extract from the cloves applied on the upper right extremity, and the crude extract from its leaves which was applied on the upper left extremity. Nupirocin, an antibiotic proven to be effective against the said bacteria was applied on the lower right extremity and served as the positive control. The lower left extremity that was left untreated served as the negative control. Daily observations for change in wound length measurements and for presence of granulations were recorded until wound healing was attained. Results showed that both the garlic cloves extract and garlic leaves extract are effective in treating superficial bacterial infection.
