Summary, etc. | ABSTRACT: The study sought to identify the manner how these students cope with the adjustment requirements through the use of different coping mechanisms, namely: physical engagement, compensation, withdrawal, trivializing and rationalization. It also sought to identify most commonly employed coping mechanism of the student respondents. The descriptive method of research was used, and questionnaires were utilized as main tools for gathering data. Statistical treatment was confined to the use of frequency count, percentage distribution and weighted mean. The findings revealed that compensation is the most commonly employed coping mechanism, followed by rationalization, trivializing, and physical engagement. Withdrawal is the least employed coping mechanism. There is no difference in the pattern of choice of coping mechanisms between male and female students. Both of this gender group them employed rationalization and compensation. Among others, the study recommends that the guidance center or school administration undertakes measures to help students cope with their adjustment problems. |
